CHORE-FREE
Words and Music by James Keith Norman
VERSE #1:
Sure, I got a lawn full of grass to cut,
dirty car I need to wash and wax, but
I been working hard all week.
I’m so tired, I can barely speak.
VERSE #2:
And yeah, I should be mending that hole in the shed,
haulin’ away those old Goodyear treads,
but right now I can hardly move,
too drained to repair or improve.
So…
CHORUS:
I’ll just sit right here in shade,
Drink one more cold beer, persuade
myself that nothing needs to be
done. There’s no emergency.
Just want this day off to be
chore-free.
VERSE #3:
’Course, I still gotta build that new patio,
clear a little patch where carrots can grow.
And I see all the wood to chop.
And I should fix that cuckoo clock.
VERSE #4:
But all I want to do is slow down a bit.
’cause Monday’s comin’ soon enough and I admit
without some R’n’R, I know,
I won’t find my get-up-and-go.
So…
CHORUS.
BRIDGE:
C’mon, honey, sit with me.
Forget the shoppin’ and the laundry.
Your week was tough like mine.
So let me pour you a drink, or two,
don’t you dare think or do,
anything at all. Just unwind
and say…
CHORUS.
