Lyrics
THIS IS MY DAD
Words and Music by James Keith Norman
VERSE #1:
The teacher gave the kids a project
to decorate a wall of the class
with drawings of people who they believed
did great things in the past.
VERSE #2:
So, up went sketches of King and Columbus,
There was Armstrong on the moon.
There were writers, inventors, movie stars.
People the whole class knew.
But one man’s face was a mystery.
A boy asked who drew it.
A girl said, “Me.
CHORUS:
"This is my dad.
He is a strong man
A smart man, and kind.
And all the things he does for me
make him great to my mind.
This is my dad.
This is my dad
She said…
VERSE #4:
"He’s always been there when I need him
to help with my math or my bike.
He works long and hard, but…no matter what,
he’s always kissed me goodnight.
VERSE #5:
"And on weekends, he’s always made pancakes
the way I like: topped with ice cream.
He taught me how to hunt, how to bunt
and coached my last hockey team.
Now, am I braggin’? I suppose,
but every day, honest,
his greatness shows.
CHORUS.
BRIDGE:
She said,
He don’t have to be famous, rich or nothin’ like that.
’cause I know my dad loves me. And me, I love him right back.
CHORUS.
