VOICE NOTES FOR THE CREATIVE SOUL
Said the mentor to the artist: “You desire a creative life. But there are things you must be aware of and that you must address on your creative journey. Let us begin.”
Voice Notes for the Creative Soul. Glimpses of inspiration, moments of solace, heartbeats of encouragement, read by Beck Norman.
Voice Notes for the Creative Soul, released as its own separate EP, is the companion to the album Jazz Infusions for the Creative Soul. Like the other collaborations of James Keith Norman and Beck Norman, these six spoken-word cuts were inspired by the original music found on Jazz Infusions.
The first cut on the Voice Notes EP, "It is a Gift", is a gentle introduction to an acknowledgement and acceptance of the gift of creativity. Beck explores this concept and what this means when you embrace the gift.
"Branded and Blessed", the second cut on the EP, touches upon the artist’s reimagining of the world once they fully embrace their newly found path.
No matter how long you have been a creative soul, there will be times when you fear that you are spent and there is no more to be found. Fear not: "What Matters Today" gives an encouraging insight into this worry and how to deal with it.
Faith and persistence is the reminder of the fourth cut on Voice Notes. When what you are trying to achieve seems just beyond your grasp, sometimes you need to remember to "Open Your Arms."
And at other times the Creative Soul is so flooded with inspiration that it screams to be let out. It is at these moments that you may need to ask yourself "Can You Tame It?", which is the title of the fifth cut. Yes, you can tame it, but you should do so just enough to get the result out to the world.
Finally, there comes that time when many creative souls wonder whether they should remain on their creative path. Sorry for the spoiler alert but the sixth cut, "Continue On", definitely answers that query.
